Feedback Book
Dear Jan,
I have been reading your story. First I read the back stories from people I know- Bernard, Colleen, Jacques, Dirk. There are others, but these, these you have captured as I know them. Colleen talking a mile a minute, Dirk happy to be free, and Bernard - although I never saw him with sad eyes. By the time we met, he was always smiling. Maybe because of your friendship. But the reason I am writing is because I too slept on a table in Viana with another sleeping below me! Date - 21 September 2007. I will not write every time I see our path was the same, but sleeping on the same table is just too funny. I can see the room, the stairs, everything clearly. I very much like your writing. Excellent. Thank you. Mary
I hope your book does well and I have to think that it will inspire others to go on this beautiful walk. I agree with one of the people you quoted in your book about the Camino being a metaphor for life and I remember thinking on my way home from Spain that once you have left the Camino, the walk through life continues and you only have to remember all the blessings of the human spirit and lessons of beauty, fellowship, assistance and determination that you received on the Way are actually with us at all times, no matter where we are. Your book really reconnected me with this frame of mind. Last year, I tore a meniscus and was on crutches for a long time. When I went to Guatemala for 6 weeks last February, I was really quite restricted and couldn't go on many excursions that I would have enjoyed. I'm finally better and I have to say that I will never take walking for granted again. Julie
I found your book last week in the library and I UNDERSTAND it. I finished it in one day. It gave me a feeling of hope. I also had the thought: I would like to talk with this man. Lia
